At the age of fifteen I took my first cooking job and I have been working with food ever since. Rolling up my sleeves, tying on an apron, and teaching others how to cook delicious food is what I love to do.
With over ten years experience as a culinary professional, I began teaching cooking classes in Chicago with positions as the Lead Instructor at The Viking Cooking School and Director of Children’s Classes at Northshore Cookery. In Portland, I teach frequently at In Good Taste in the Pearl District and Lake Oswego, where I specialize in technique and themed based classes for home cooks and children. I also assist with classes at Robert Reynold's Chef Studio.
My approach to food was refined in award winning restaurants and fine catering establishments in this country and in France. I honed my skills in Provence, Boston, Portland and my home town of Louisville. After attending La Varenne Culinary School in Burgundy, France where I trained under renowned cookbook author Anne Willan, I completed a stage under Chef Reine Sammut at Auberge La Fenière, a one-star Michelin restaurant outside Aix-en-Provence.
While in France, I learned the art of recipe development and frequently use those skills in freelance work. My recipes have appeared in Martha Stewart’s Everyday Food, The Louisville Courier-Journal and soon to be published in two forthcoming Weber-Grill cookbooks.
I am a member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals and the Portland Culinary Alliance. I also hold a bachelors degree with honors from Wheaton College in Massachusetts.
